Finance and insurance are theme of first VRA meeting of 2024

Finance and insurance will be the themes of the first Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA) meeting of 2024, taking place at the Derby premises of Geldards on Thursday 25th January.

The event will look at the impact of a changing motor finance market and rising premiums on the remarketing sector. There will also be an update on the LCV market and new van grading system, plus an auction discussion panel.

Key speakers are Adrian Dally, director of motor finance and strategy, Finance and Leasing Association who will discuss the opportunities and challenges for motor finance in 2024; and Tim Kelly, managing director and owner at MotorClaimGuru, who will examine the impact of the cost of insurance on remarketing.

Members will also receive a general update from Jon Butler of Geldards, the VRA’s legal counsel; Julian Pullen, senior editor, commercial vehicles and motorcycles, cap hpi will report on the van sector; and consultant Louise Wallis will look at the impact so far of Consumer Duty.

The auction discussion panel will feature Tim Catlin, consultant and freelance writer;

Graham Howes, head of digital sales, Motor Auction Group; Stuart Peak, national LCV manager, Manheim; and Louis Maxwell, senior insight manager, Auto Trader.

VRA chair Philip Nothard said: “As we enter 2024, there is simply a lot going on in remarketing and our first meeting of the New Year very much reflects this fact.

“We’ll be taking an in-depth look at the current state of the finance and insurance industries and the impact that they are having on remarketing. Certainly, the availability of motor finance for used cars and rapidly rising insurance premiums are both having an impact on our sector.

“The introduction of new gradings for vans is a major development for the light commercial vehicle market while we’ll also be having a discussion about the state of the van market in general, as well as another of our popular auction discussion panels.

“It promises to be a really strong meeting that will stimulate a lot of discussion and we are sure that our members will find it useful.”

As with all VRA member meetings, attendance is available online as well as in person. Details about attending the organisation’s events can be obtained by emailing info@thevra.co.uk.
