VRA 2024 Seminar to look at potential impact of general election on remarketing

The final speakers have been added to the Vehicle Remarketing Association’s (VRA’s) 2024 Seminar, including an expert looking at the potential impact of next year’s general election on remarketing.

Adrian Pepper is a campaign strategist, pollster, former UK government special adviser and parliamentary candidate, who has advised at levels of leadership ranging from local authorities to parliamentary party leaders.

He currently advises the UK National Franchised Dealers Association and the Petrol Retailers Association. At the VRA seminar, he’ll be looking at the 2024 general election – when it is likely to happen and what different outcomes could mean for the country, consumers, businesses and the motor industry.

Also added to the list of speakers is Stuart Chamberlain, head of B2B and remarketing partnerships at Arval, who will be looking at what large operators of electric vehicles (EVs) need to do to build awareness and expertise about EVs among dealers and the wider remarketing sector.

The overall theme of the free-to-attend seminar is“2024: The Year Ahead in Remarketing” and it will take place on Tuesday 21st November at The Slate, Warwick University, examining a wide range of current and new issues affecting the sector.

Speakers already named include Graeme Chaplin, the Bank of England’s agent for the West Midlands, who will present on the UK’s economic outlook for next year; Abdul Chowdhury, head of vehicle policy at Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, looking at the latest developments in the EV regulatory framework; and Louis Piper, professor of battery innovation at the Faraday Institute, who will talk about his organisation’s latest research into EV battery degradation.

Philip Nothard, chair at the VRA, said: “The general election will be one of the key events of 2024, especially with regard to the future adoption of EVs and wider transport policy, and we are pleased to be able to add an expert in this area to the diverse range of topics being covered at the VRA Seminar.

“This is, we believe, perhaps the best overall speaker line-up of any motor industry event being held this year, with a mix of well-known, high-profile individuals from within remarketing and some names that will be new to most people in the sector but promise to give very interesting presentations. It’s going to be quite a day and attendance is free to anyone involved in the remarketing sector.”

The VRA Seminar is free to attend for all. Full details on the speaker line-up and ticketing can be found at https://bit.ly/VRA211123.
