VRA changes AGM arrangements in response to general election

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA) has been changed in response to the recent general election announcement.

An in-person meeting had been planned to take place at BCA, Perry Barr, Birmingham on Thursday 4th July but this now polling day, and the meeting has been both shortened and switched to online-only.

VRA chair Philip Nothard said: “There were some understandable reservations from members about holding the AGM on the same day as the general election, especially with some people worried about when they might be able to vote.

“So, our revised plan is to meet our legal obligations and deal with essential AGM business through an online meeting at 10am on July 4. This should take no more than an hour, so will give people plenty of time to get to their local polling station.

“Having exercised their democratic rights be voting in the VRA AGM, they’ll be able to do the same on the national stage, all on the same day.”

Originally, a full programme of presentations was planned as part of the AGM but these will now form part of a later meeting, he added.

“What we’re now proposing is to expand on the additional content that was planned for the AGM and hold a new VRA in-person meeting later in July or early August.

“This will include an in-depth look at the subject of battery health checks, a panel discussion on how the results of the general election will affect the remarketing sector and a used car market update. The venue and date for this are being finalised but we will provide further details as soon as possible.”
