VRA AGM July 2025

July 3 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Date: July 3 2025

Time: 10am-1pm

Topic: The state of the UK automotive retail sector

As a very brief outline of the purpose of the AGM and the business to be covered at it:

  • The current Articles of Association provide for the holding of AGMs and the ordinary business to be conducted at them. You will be able to find a copy of the current Articles of Association in the members’ area of the VRA website. There is also a copy of the Notice of Annual General Meeting and of the Proxy form there.
  • The board approved the 2024 financial accounts at the 15 May 2025 meeting, but will be presented to members at the AGM as an opportunity to raise any questions or queries.
  • The current Articles of Association provide that one third of the directors should retire by rotation at each AGM. This occurs as a matter of good practice as it provides members with the opportunity to review the membership of the board. The directors who retire by rotation can be re-appointed as directors at the meeting and you will see that each of them has indicated a willingness to be re-appointed.
  • Members will receive a report from the Directors on the activities of the Company since the previous AGM.

The AGM will be followed by an update on the state of the UK automotive retail sector, examining its resilience and new opportunities arising despite economic challenges, be presented by Omar Mirza and Kevin Lamb of global automotive consultancy Alvarez and Marsal.

They will then take part in a discussion panel on factors affecting automotive retail also featuring Mike Allen, managing director of Cambria Private Capital and Mike Jones of Fresh Track Holdings.

Oliver Philpott, co-founder of battery health check specialist Generational will then explain how widely available artificial intelligence tools can be used to quickly and easily produce personalised technology for remarketing businesses.

Chris Plumb, head of current car valuations at cap hpi will provide a detailed update on the current state of the new and used car and van markets.
